More than: motherhood

I think we can agree that motherhood is one of the most beautiful things we can experience this side of heaven, but we are only seeing half of its beauty and thats what I want to talk about today… In the midst of all of the glories, and well… not so pretty parts of “momming,” it becomes near impossible for us to separate what we do from who we are… hear me out here, I love being a mom, and I don‘t take that job lightly at all, but I think we do ourselves and the one who gave us the job a major disservice when we limit our identity to just mom or wife. God has created us for more. Our identity in Him is so much more complex then seemingly slapping on the mom tag and letting that be that and allowing that to be an excuse for why we do and don’t do what he has called us to do…. Now that I’ve stepped on everyone’s toes, let me explain what I mean. The second we become moms (in whatever way that is) we are thrown into all of that responsibility and pressures that “mom“ means, and even though SOME of those are due, I believe we are only living out a small part of what motherhood is designed to be. We are living in misplaced identitiy. Yes, mom is what we do and can be a part of who we are, but our true God glorifying identity is in who He says we are, and I believe we lose that along the way (If we ever really knew what that looked like before) but my hope is that we will dive into that together and grow in a community of moms living out our unique identities with kingdom minded living.
